When it comes to looking sharp in a suit, you can’t overlook the details.
1. Your Skin
Hammer clearly has a strong grooming game (and, let’s be real, some good genes)—no redness, blotchy patches, or obvious signs of aging—and his smooth, tanned skin makes his overall look that much sleeker, says Boye.
A safe, easy way to get color like Armie’s without risking sun damage: a self-tanner or bronzing cream, like Recipe for Men’s Energizing Bronze Cream ($39, recipeformen.com). Applied daily, it will moisturize your skin and deliver a natural, healthy looking glow.
2. Your Eyes
Hammer looks like he might be prone to dark circles, but he’s keeping them at bay, explains Boye. There are a few ways to do that (starting with getting more sleep and staying hydrated).
Boye also recommends keeping the sensitive skin around your eyes hydrated and moisturized. An eye cream with caffeine can help improve blood flow to the area, reducing puffiness and brightening the skin.
"An eye cream with caffeine is more effective at treating these symptoms than regular eye cream moisturizers,” declares to a recent report by The Dermatology Review. Try Kiehl’s Eye Alert ($23, kiehls.com).
To further minimize circles, try using under-eye patches a few times a week to help lighten the area. We like these from Recipe for Men ($36, recipeformen.com).
3. Your Beard
“Maintaining a beard can actually be more work than shaving every day,” Boye says. Notice that Hammer hasn’t overly manicured his (see: cheeks), but he’s clearly maintaining it (see: neck). His beard aligns well with the stylish but casual feel of the suit, he explains.
Use this Wahl beard trimmer ($30, amazon.com) bare on the neck and with a guard on the beard. And don’t trim the hair too short north of where the chin meets the neck. Allowing the beard to cover the entire underside of your chin can help create the illusion of a stronger jawline.
4. The Suit
To keep your cool in the heat, choose linen like Hammer, says Boye. The fabric is lightweight and looks cool on summer days. It’s more breathable than other materials like wool or cotton, but still looks classic and formal.
And while you’re at it, Boye notes, switch from a standard, notched lapel to a peak lapel. The peak variation is slightly more formal, and a subtle clue that the wearer knows a few things about style.
Nail both of those details with this dapper pick from Suit Supply ($499, suitsupply.com).
5. Your Hair
“If you have medium to long hair, take note of Hammer’s mane; it’s styled, but not stiff, resulting in a natural look that is both relaxed and refined—just like his tailored linen suit,” Boye says.
Invest in a men’s styling product that provides solid hold and light shine. American Crew Grooming Cream ($12, amazon.com) is loaded with a medley of aloe vera gel, coconut oil, and beeswax, which helps condition hair while it holds.
The suit should remain the focal point, says Boye, so choose a shirt and tie that don’t compete for attention. You can never go wrong with Hammer’s pick of a white shirt and black tie.
